12 ways to be happy
These 12 happiness practices are based on research and compiled by Sonja Lyubormirsky in The How of Happiness, 2007. They’re supported by the finding that while 50% of people’s happiness is set by genetics and disposition, and 10% is set by life circumstances, 40% of happiness is under our control and created by doing one or more of these 12 things on a regular basis.
When they become part of our daily lives, these practices build our happiness like a muscle. That means you don’t have to do all of them. Thank goodness. It also means you should commit to one or two and do them regularly.
