One of the best ways to resolve our emotions is by talking about them. We need these things:

  • We need the words to use.

    • Even some grownups can’t say what they’re feeling. What a disaster. 

    • Look up “emotional vocabulary” to find lists of feelings words. Give yourself as many words as you need.

    • You might need more than one word at a time: mixed emotions are a real thing!

  • We need someone to use the words with.

    • Talking to yourself can help, but it’s better to have someone else listening.

  • We need people around us who talk about their own feelings.

    • We can set a good example for each other.
